There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift, that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate.

At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all, ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.

The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves!

Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

WE ARE THE ONES WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR.

Good points to reflect upon cheezgrits!

I think you may also agree that for those who make the True and rightful turn and finally meet together at the end of the Red Road - We Are The Ones That Our Creator Has Been Waiting For.

Hi cheezgrits. Today I had been thinking about your earlier post where you commented about people gathering in the river, letting go of the shore and flowing together in the center. That was a neat analogy and it reminded me very much about Jesus' comments where He said that by believing in Him we could have "rivers of living water". Here is that particular portion of Scripture from the Bible:

Quote:
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (John 7:37-39)
I don't know if you had ever heard of that portion of Scripture before but your comments sure brought those verses to mind.

Peace, my friend.

I'm starting to think that if you, I and hotcoffee sat down for coffee (no pun intended!) and had a conversation, we'd come to realize that our beliefs are very parallel, if not overlayed. Hmmm, would be a great conversation I bet.

That would be great if it could be possible to do. I agree that we could have a great conversation and time of sharing and I'd really enjoy being able to meet you and hotcoffee in person as well as others. Some of the somd forumites have been able to meet personally at various locations in the area. My problem, however, is that I live in a distant land far, far away from Maryland. I live in Texas! So, unfortunately it wouldn't be easy for me to be there in person as I wish I could be to meet.

By the way, several years ago I was inducted as an "honorary member" of the Yakama Indian Nation in Washington state. The ceremony took place in the Tribal Longhouse on the Yakama Indian Reservation. It would be neat to share that with you as well.

Lessons of the Wolf

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, ‘My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?’

The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one you feed.’

Hi again cheezgrits,

The Holy Bible also gives the same analogy. However, instead of "two wolves" the Bible states that humans have two natures; carnal and spiritual.

Again, similar to feeding wolves, our human thoughts, actions and lives are going to be controlled by which we yield to and which we "feed".

Here is the explanation:
Quote:
Life by the Spirit

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
(Galatians 5:13-26)
and this:

Quote:
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (Galatians 6:8)
and this:

Quote:
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Galatians 8:1)

When something is sacred, it does not have a price. I don't care if it is white people talking about heaven or Indian people talking about ceremonies. If you can buy it, it isn't sacred. And once you start to sell it, it doesn't matter whether your reasons are good or not. You are taking what is sacred and making it ordinary.
And really, just think about this, no Christian bible parallel references required.

However, Bible references give added credence to what you are saying. The Word of God is guidance to our soul and is sacred teaching. Throughout the years, men have taken the Sacred Teachings, corrupted them and sold them for self-gain interests. This still goes on today.

Again, it was Jesus who spoke about this very thing where false and greedy religious leaders would sell religious trinkets that they made people believe were "blessed artifacts," sold animals to present as offerings, and even sold the promise of indulging and having sins forgiven for a price. Do any tribal nations that you are aware of sell religious artifacts on the pretense that it will bring "good luck" or special protection like many so-called "Christian" denominations do?

Quote:
Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”

(Matthew 21:12-13)
