Pope publishes last volume on Jesus's childhood

Pope publishes last volume of Jesus bio | News.com.au

POPE Benedict XVI has published the third and last volume of his biography of Jesus Christ, a touching and highly personal work written under the theologian pope's own name of Joseph Ratzinger.

The tome devoted to Jesus's childhood is being published in nine languages with a first edition of around a million copies, the Vatican says.

Its 147 pages are the result of years of work that began in 2003 when Ratzinger was still head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The Pope has devoted "all his free time to bring to fruition this project, which he wanted and loved," Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi told hundreds of journalists and clergymen assembled in a large hall in the Holy See.

Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, head of the Pontifical Council for Culture, said the volume focuses on 180 verses from the Bibles of Matthew and John.

So, why buy Ratzinger's interpretation when you can read those Bible verses for free - from your own Bible?

This ought to be fascinating since scripture tells us practically nothing about this time period of his life, what less than a chapter?

I wonder if it will contain the tales about Jesus throwing a childhood friend off a roof killing him and bringing him back to life. I'd love to see the source material that being used. I guess it’s probably going to be biographical fiction?

The problem is that "another gospel" and "another Jesus" is introduced when views deviate from what has already been revealed in the Holy Bible.

The point is that Christ's childhood is summed up in one verse:

Quote:
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. (Luke 2:40)

On the other hand: The accounts of Christ's fulfillment throughout His adult ministry of preaching about the Kingdom of God, providing Salvation for you through His Atoning Blood (being The Lamb of God) as well as His enduring persecutions, suffering, crucifixion, Resurrection and prophesied Return should be at the top of the list for things to read.

Then again, ALL those things are already covered in One Book; The Holy Bible.

I didn't realize the article said that he was writing another gospel, or is that just your interpratations of the words they used?

I guess it matters whether the book contains material on Jesus' childhood that is not in the 4 gospels and whether or not its presented as truth.

In Christianity, the word "Gospel" refers to the Truthful Good News Message of Christ's teachings on Salvation. It's the Good News for a lost and dying world to know that God has provided a Saviour and that Salvation is received through repentance and by placing personal faith in the New Testament Jesus Christ. The Good News as written in the Holy Bible is deemed reliable in regard to what God wanted to reveal and all we need to know.

If any portion of Ratzinger's account/version deviates from the Bible with unverifiable news about Jesus' Childhood and relies upon his own or someone else's conjecture/assumptions then he has introduced another news report, thus, another gospel.

And, by the way, speaking of "Assumptions"...
