It's the Harp! (lol)
P.S. The tempo may be a bit different as well.
The guitar has often been referred to as a 6-stringed harp so..............

I imagine it to look more like this.

Seems to me you started this thread to stir the pot. Or else you'd have asked "If someone claims to be saved, though they still screw up, can they still get into heaven?"

yes, there is no requirement to be perfect in order to be saved.

I started the thread to open a discussion.

That's not really the premise of coffee’s question as I understand it. This should apply across the spectrum of ‘sins’. There isn’t a Christian on here that can claim that because they are saved they will never sin again. That’s not the point.

The point is, if being gay is a sin, can someone claim they are saved and consciously go on committing that sin? I think it goes a little deeper than that. I think gay people don’t believe their behavior is a sin. I think they believe it is perfectly natural to be gay. Given that, there is really no way to have a rational discussion about this. It will all get sorted out in the end.

The point is.... Being gay is not the sin.... Being a thief or a drunk or a myriad of other things is not the sin.... It's the act or the behavior that is the sin [according to the Bible as sex outside of the marriage as defined by God].

There are plenty of gay people who have become Christians and then made an effort to sin no more successfully. Much like the thief or the drunk makes an effort to sin no more successfully.

It's not even the success of the effort.... it's the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior that opens the way to Heaven...

And this is key. A person will never conquer habitual sin without faith in Jesus Christ and repentance (which always accompanies saving faith). He must be your affection, not food or porn or possessions.

Like the adulterer or the glutton, the homosexual will never see heaven without faith in Jesus Christ and repentance.

Isn't it wonderful that Jesus Christ came to offer us Salvation so that when the temptations of life become too much for us, He is there to forgive us, understand our weakness, and help us through the times when temptations plague us.... I am so grateful for my Lord and Savior..... I am so grateful for His Grace.

Even those who we would think would never see the Glory of Heaven have hope and Salvation in the name of Jesus Christ.

I know what it's like to strive to overcome gluttony, drunkedness, and pride. It's so much easier with Christ on my side.

Surely the Bible says something about sitting around, striking up conversation about who we think is going to heaven...

Regardless... clumping people is ridiculous. Asking "Can gays get into heaven" is no different than asking "Is my neighbor going to heaven? Is my brother going to heaven?" Who sits around doing that? I know you gave a scenario, but there is so much more in there than just being gay. You don't know every gay person to know if a blanket statement would cover them.

I have noticed this shift from "We all fall short of the glory of God" to "I'm not gay, so I'm safe..."
