The Baptism by the Holy Spirit is a completely different baptism. The act of dunking, pouring, sprinkling water is used to signify the death of the old self, the washing of sins, and the rebirth as a new creation in Christ. The Baptism by the Holy Spirit is the movement of the Holy Spirit in or over a christian that occurs some time after a person is saved. So in this chapter of Matthew, first Jesus is baptised in water and then He is Baptized by the Holy Spirit. Hope that helps....
