Well all righty then. Well said. Very true and spot on.

Also, less time putting those witty sayings on the board out front, too.

Nah, some of those are pretty good...

Hebrews 10:25 not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Not partaking in communion
and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat;[a] this is My body which is broken[b] for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

We grow in our sanctification in the church as others grow in theirs.
Heb 2:11

11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, (KJV)

Not being there to exercise ones gifts in the body.
Not serving one another
and not being able to participate in corporate worship.

Love one another John 13:34,35

Disciple and teach one another 2 Cor. 2:2
Please one another Rom. 15:2
Accept one another Rom. 15:7

Kind of hard to practice these when you aren't in a body of believers!
Somewhere outthere is a body thats missing parts, because some feel they are better or to good for that body, so they go to Red Robin instead.

I do look forward to those witty sayings on the sign boards out in front of the churches from Prince Frederick to Lusby....

Since I posted yesterday, I've already been invited to one of the churches in Prince Frederick.

The lady I work with goes to the Methodist Church right there on the corner of Church Street and Main Street in Prince Frederick. She's been going there for years. She really likes it. I might just visit a couple of times....

StoneThrower.... I'm generally not comfortable around Satan or his servants... He lies to people .... He operates in churches too.... He worms his way in with someone who is not a Christian and he stays as long as he is permitted.... that's what ruins churches....

Calling me out for what? Because I don't go to a structure called a 'church'? Are there no other ways to assemble? This is the very reason I don't attend 'church'; because people like you have very narrow and limited view about how things should be. You try to define in a very singular way how you think everyone should worship; and if we don't you call our salvation into question.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. - Matthew 23:13

I guess you are now saying I'm not a christian.... well judge not buddy....

Maybe it's not about you or your personal comfort?

Come to the Potter's Place in St. Leonard tomorrow and let's look together at what the Scriptures say it IS about when we open Colossians 1:13-23.

Are you claiming that our local churches are under the active influence of Satan?

We know he is the prince of liars. And most often he lies to Christians and convinces them they should forsake what God has said is good: this includes being a member of a local assembly of believers.

You see, when we are selfless, and Christ was selfless, we invest in Christ and in people. We don't leave or bounce around because we were uncomfortable. Most of the time we are uncomfortable because we don't want to be accountable.

Maybe that's you, or maybe not. There is no doubt in my mind that you know Christ. But there is also no doubt in my mind that Christians who are not at least seeking to be part of a local body, and committed to sharing every aspect of their lives with the other members according the Scriptures (this includes being under authority), are not obeying God's word and are rebelling against God.

That being said, and I will not speak on the matter anymore, I will leave with a good article by John MacArthur.

When Should People Leave Their Church?

Going to Prince Frederick tomorrow.... I think... The Potter's Place is one of the best churches in the area... I'd highly recommend it to anyone... it's alive... and working.... Good example of what a church should be like...

I know the Preacher there... he's awesome... and he teaches the truth all the time!

This whole thread began because of an article in the Calvert Recorder. It was talking about how people are responding to religion and churches in general.... I'm talking about churches in general.... for the most part...

I haven't been to all the local churches... but I have been to about half a dozen churches in the area that I just couldn't make myself go back to..... We do have a couple of churches in the area that IMHO definitely are under the influence of Satan. There's a non-denominational church over on the bypass road in Prince Frederick that is preaching that you don't need Jesus to get to Heaven. The last church I went to in Calvert County, though, gave me the heebie-jeebies... and I can't put my finger on why exactly.... they were trying to be a church... and I did see a couple of people smiling... but it just didn't feel right... it felt just down right wrong...

I'm not totally out of the assembly of believers. I asked my dad one time why he didn't go to church as much anymore. He said he "didn't feel called". I know what he means... when the Lord wants me to go... he lets me know. He usually has a reason for me being there other than just celebration. Right now... I have the online Bible Study... the Bible Study at work [which does keep me accountable]... and daily sermons I listen to as well. WAVA has some really good preachers every day....
I am really concerned tho that the Recorder could run an article like that and no one rebutted it in the editorial pages.

My first post in this forum topic, and i am not here to judge anyone. Also i apologize if this has bee brought up before. I do believe in God and i do accept Jesus and i am not an unbeliever. I find your forum name interesting StoneThrower especially in a religious type forum. I thought Jesus said "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" and yet your forum name is StoneThrower. I am a little confused about the name you use and some of your opinions shown on this forum. Do you really feel in your heart when Jesus said "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" you would have been a Stone Thrower? By the way, i am technically a none, i believe in God and accept Jesus, but i do not belong to any formal church.

Pastor Keyser retired in December. So, I am preaching there tomorrow. Wish I could meet you. Probably won't be the last time I will be over there though I'm sure.

One question, if you believe that is what a church should be like, why didn't you stay?

I would only caution you to be careful with letting feelings and intuition majority inform your judgment. Obvious doctrinal dysfunction or heresy is different.
