None's on the rise, not on the run

In the Calvert Recorder there is an article that should bring on quite a discussion [once again] in this thread.

I think I saw something on this topic a few weeks ago.

It's an interesting article, what I've had the time to read.

After reading the article.... it discusses some of the reasons people become disillusioned with organized religion, the fear of admitting being a non-christian, the reasons for athism, and science vs the Bible.... it's quite an article.

Then on the way to work this morning I was listening to Allistaire Begg and he was talking about agape love. Seems that agape love would clean up a lot of the issues with organized religion in Southern Maryland....

Just saying...

I partially fall in a ‘none’ category. I have been quite disillusioned with RELIGION for quite some time. But I still have a deep faith in God. Today’s organized religion, in my opinion, has become more of a bane on the Christian faith than a place of refuge for believers.

According to the article it's the way people act that turns so many off of the idea of church. It's a shame that this happens to so many people.

I love that forums like this exist so that Bible studies on line can occur.

I also noticed that the article points to the "gotta get you saved" actions of so many people in church. I've seen it here in these forums too. IMHO I can't get anyone saved. It's up to God. I totally understand the point the person was trying to make.

Then there's the acceptance of gays in the church. That's a tough one to deal with. I think I heard it's getting better now than it was years ago. .... but I haven't been in church for a lot of years.

There is one thing I think the church has got to be careful of [after an article like this hits the papers]. The church has to be careful not to bend too much to be all inclusive. One of the people quoted says that her father read out of Timothy... that all are saved.... that's a real problem.

Two questions need to be asked and answered.
Who is Church for?
What is Church for?

If your not saved your welcome but its not for you! Its for Christians not the unregenerate.
Also church is to worship God something and unbeliever cant do and its for the edification of the saints.
So the Gotta get saved and the Homesexual issue are non issues!

I was always under the opinion that church is the house of the Lord and all are welcome....
