Forgiveness

God forgives sinners. It is that simple. We are sinners; at least I am. I know God forgives me, but I find it hard to forgive myself. There are those memories of what I did wrong to others and God. I still mess up. Most often, it is just in my mind, but sin starts with a thought. But God forgives if we just ask through Jesus. Even Isaiah tells how God chooses to forget our sin for His own sake; because He wants to.
Quote:
Isaiah 43:24-26

24"You have bought Me not sweet cane with money,
Nor have you filled Me with the fat of your sacrifices;
Rather you have burdened Me with your sins,
You have wearied Me with your iniquities.
25"I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake,
And I will not remember your sins.
26"Put Me in remembrance, let us argue our case together;
State your cause, that you may be proved right.
Why? Is God forgetful? He does it because He loves us.

Paul testifies in Hebrews that God does not remember our sins.
Quote:
Hebrews 10:10-25

10By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;

12but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD,

13waiting from that time onward UNTIL HIS ENEMIES BE MADE A FOOTSTOOL FOR HIS FEET.

14For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

15And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
16"THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM
AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD:
I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART,
AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL WRITE THEM,"
He then says,
17"AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS
I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."

18Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.
A New and Living Way
19Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

20by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,

21and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

22let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

23Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;

24and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,

25not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
God forgives our sins and forgets them. We need to forgive ourselves and those who sinned against us and who participated in our sin and do our best to put sin out of our mind. Forgiving others is key to forgiveness and forgiving ourselves. We must release, repent, rejuvenate, rejoice, give God the glory and our love. Then we shall bask in His forgiveness and love. It is free for the asking. God lives in our praises.

The blood of Jesus covers all our sins as soon as we repent and ask forgiveness. Satan is the one whispering in our minds that we are not forgiven; we are not good enough, we are dirt, we are bad, trying to get us to give up. Satan is a liar and a thief. He wants to rob us of the gift of salvation by convincing us that we are not forgiven so that we will walk away from our relationship with Jesus. There is no condemnation for those that believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Quote:
Romans 8:1-3

1Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

3For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,
We, as Christians, as children of the Father, are forgiven by God. We must keep forgiving ourselves as God forgives us.

Love in Christ Jesus,
2A

So if I think about stepping on your toes, I can be forgiving?

Great words!

We need to be reminded of these thoughts from time to time, when we get down on ourselves.

(thank you)

Forgiveness 11-16-2006 10:32 AM repeating the same sins does make sense to me
Point totally missed.

Quote:
repent

Main Entry: 1re·pent
Pronunciation: ri-'pent
Function: verb
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French repentir, from Medieval Latin repoenitEre, from Latin re- + Late Latin poenitEre to feel regret, alteration of Latin paenitEre -- more at PENITENT
intransitive verb
1 : to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one's life
2 a : to feel regret or contrition b : to change one's mind
transitive verb
1 : to cause to feel regret or contrition
2 : to feel sorrow, regret, or contrition for
- re·pent·er noun
The implication in repentance is you change your desire. You do not want to sin anymore.

Quote:
Jude 4For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Quote:
licentious
One entry found for licentious.
Main Entry: li·cen·tious
Pronunciation: lI-'sen(t)-sh&s
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin licentiosus, from licentia
1 : lacking legal or moral restraints; especially : disregarding sexual restraints
2 : marked by disregard for strict rules of correctness
- li·cen·tious·ly adverb
- li·cen·tious·ness noun
If you think you can get away with sin by repeatedly asking for forgiveness without repentance, that is licentiousness. You mock God by trying to turn His grace into license to sin. God knows your intent. Of course you can repent of any sin, but don't try to play games. It won't work.

Forgiveness 11-16-2006 03:14 PM No you missed the point. YOU can keep sinning because YOU desire to change? How smug you are, I don't need you to define words for me.
My, my. Testy aren't we?

Someone has to define them for you. You apparently don't understand on your own. Just trying to help.

Seriously, do I repeat the same sin. Yep. Did I want to? Flesh and Spirit at war. It is covered.
Quote:
Romans 7:14-25

The Conflict of Two Natures

14For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.

15For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.

16But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good.

17So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.

18For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

19For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.

20But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.

21I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good.

22For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man,

23but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.

24Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?

25Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.
