North American Brown or Copperhead?

Hey everyone, I'd love your input on this. Saw this small snake, about 10' long in a bush in the front yard. At first I thought it was a copperhead, but eyes were wrong. I think it is a brown snake. Anyone who knows fur certain, I'd love your input.

It's way too long and skinny for a copperhead. They're "short and squatty"!!

That's a harmless garter snake. Unless it really is 10 FEET long, then run and run fast.

It is not a copperhead and it is not a garter snake.

It is a completely harmless Northern Brown Snake. Sometimes referred to as DeKay's Snake. Scientific name: Storeria dekayi

They are small snakes, about the thickness of a pencil, and rarely exceeding 12 inches in length. Their diet is primarily earthworms and slugs.

Why is everybody finding all these really cool snakes and I don't
My son found a black snake the other day while riding his bike. I guess I've just been too busy

It's okay. You are not alone. In fact, if there's absolutely nothing wrong with you then you are probably on the wrong planet. For the rest of us, let's celebrate this gift called flaw. It's what makes us interesting.
