When I registered my tires with General, the date code was 0912. Had to register the tires with each DOT tire ID number for the warranty and info in case of a recall.

Tire stores have just plain silly markups. Stock tires for my Charger....

Mr Tire - $426 each tire.

Thats $1627 mounted and balanced after rebate

TireRack - $194 each tire. (And you can be damn sure TR isnt selling out of date tires, although the four sets I have bought from online vendors have all been recent tires)

Thats $696 after the mail in rebate. A $930 dollar difference. I know, what about shippiing, mounting, and balancing?

Well, shipping from Delaware is a total of $54. Not each tire, thats for all four. So it's only $876 less so far. Mounting and balancing? Well, Cutris has charged me I think a hair over $20 a tire for high speed balancing, but we'll call it $50 a tire just in case it's gone up since last year:) -$200 still leaves you with a $676 discrepancy.

So, even allowing for a silly amount for mount and balance, it's over $500 cheaper. Run the numbers for your own tires, see what happens. And if you use the total for mount and balance of under $100 that I recall, it's significantly better.
