MVA did a study about age and crashes

And made it worthless, even though it's being touted? A prefect example of waste and poor science

Headline reads....... "Older Drivers Involved in Fewer Crashes, MVA Report Says"

Wow, way to go, older drivers!!!!!! Looks like we can all take a page from the old people......but read closer

Quote:
Due to a lack of data, the report was unable to take into account the amount of miles each age group was driving — an element which could give considerable insight into the crash data.

"Could give considerable insight"???????? What? More like an element that makes the crash data relevant at all. Without miles driven, this study was a complete waste of time.

Speaking of which, Why the hell is the budget committee asking the MVA for crash data?

The report, prepared at the request of the budget committees in the House and Senate,

What do they mean by "older" drivers? Older than a teenager? Senior citizens?

If by "older" they mean older than 25, well....yeah. I could have told them that for free.

Sorry, forgot the link....

Older Drivers Involved in Fewer Crashes, MVA Report Says - Southern Maryland Headline News

drivers between the ages of 75 and 89 actually had the lowest crash rate of all other age groups.
Even with the aging population, how much of the population does that age group make up? As active drivers?

As I said, what a freakin waste of time, effort, and money.

Now that I've read the story, I agree with this. They also say that older drivers are more frequently found at fault in crashes, which tells me that the incomplete data screws the whole thing up and makes the study worthless.
