| Probably been asked a hundred times Here’s a hundred and one… I see the note in the scanner section that Charles Country Sheriff’s Department uses an encrypted digital system that cannot be heard by a scanner. I understand the radios to be digital and that’s it. As for encrypted I don’t think they are. I was thinking of purchasing a digital scanner just so I could keep up on the happenings in the county. Any thoughts? Thanks! |

| They use certain encrypted channels that cannot be picked up by a regular scanner. Regular patrol channels should be accessible. By all means, buy a digital scanner. You shouldn't be stopped from hearing anything so long as your scanner supports the Motorola Type II Smartnet system. |
