I've always heard that you can only get them from individuals that collect them and from strip clubs...

They're big at horse races too.

I have some, but they are not the current green bank notes, they are red and minted a real long time ago, 1st generation $2 bill. Not a silver certificate, either. I check on their value every so often, still not worth much.

I find it interesting that you can get them from some banks but not others. We only had them if a customer made a transaction with them.

My daughter attended a classmates' bar-mitzvah a few years ago. Not being jewish, we researched an appropriate gift for the young man. Apparently, cash is a good thing, and any amount divisible by nine is a very nice thing. The amount of $36 is a really nice thing for some reason.

So, when my daughter presented her card to her friend, and he opened it up to find 18 $2 dollar bills, he and his parents just loved it, and still laugh about it as the best gift he received from his friends that night.

Just a lil trivia- its not the number 36 its the number 18 that is lucky to Jews... its a mystical tradition that assigns numbers to letters and long story short- 18 is good luck by the symbols the 8 and 10 are represented by.

Ive used a one dollar piece and a 50 cent piece at 2 different McDonalds... once they thought it was a "funny" quarter and asked for more money thinking I was short and another time they asked what it was, took my word for it and gave the right change back.

Apparently if you are bored and wanna have some fun- bring less popular money to fast food joints and watch the stupidity in motion.

Right when those goddamn gold dollar coins came out i got some as change at an airport, then tried to use them at the McDonalds next door to the newstand where i got them and they refused.

When the new military ID cards came out - the move from the green ones to the current ones, we had trouble using them as ID away from military bases. Like when trying to get the military discount at the liquor store back home in TN.
