Bout the only thing he didn't have. I've had my little '91 Ford Ranger forever and never had anything go wrong with it except a starter. Finally the right front body collasped from all the corrosion around the mount.

I had a Crew Cab chvy with a family of six and were much more comfortable in it than the Lumina Mini-Van we had prior. Mini van you can fit the people in, but then you have no room for luggage, groceries etc..

I think the latest is the King Cab? Full size seats and cabin both front and back, four full sized doors.

Think as far as comfort size and room you'll be more than happy, and it's a LOT more practical than an SUV.. for example.. Would you put garbage inside an SUV? But I bet you'd have no problem putting it in the bed of a pick up..
When we looked at the Ford Flex, the Expedition EL and the Suburban at the Auto Show, we were definitely impressed and all smiles until we started imagining everyone and luggage packed in there. It suddently got really small.

My truck is really nice in that everyone fits, the dog goes in the back with the luggage and every one is happy. I just think that another truck is the better buy. And although I don't tow much anymore, I still think the Duramax is the way to go considering how many miles I put on my vehicles and the Fuel consumption difference between the gas motors and the diesels is quite drastic. Of course, that was my thinking for buing teh Ford Powerstroke too, and they killed that dream pretty quick. ON computer glitch, a factory re-program to fix the glitch, and my mileage dropped by 5mpg.

I can't wait for that little diesel that they are coming out with in 2010. 4.5L to go in the 1/2 ton trucks with SUPER low emissions, good power and outstanding fuel consumption. I just need one NOW.

Most of the head gasket issues are caused by the ones that have had tuners installed. The motor can't take the higher pressures. I kept mine bone stock, knowing the problems incurred, particularly when doing even mild performane upgrades. But yea, I know it is still just a matter of time for head gaskets and transmission...which is another reason why I'm dumping it.

Funny, it was just two weeks ago that the g/f and I talked about it and we decided that the truck has been pretty good, nothing major and that it'd be smarter just to ride it out instead of signing up for 5 more years of payments. Maybe we should have talked louder so that the truck heard us. Sometimes the right decisions are made by things that are out of your control, as frustrating as it may be.

Vince, my truck is an '03, first year for the motor. And actually one of the best years for it. The '06's are by far the worst that they've ever produced, so I've learned through my research.

My '83 ranger had the doomed 2.8L V6 in it. I killed it when I rolled it down the middle of I95. It just couldn't take a hit. It ran like a top though. Had 160,000 miles on it, didn't use any oil, was quiet, no rust, easy to work on. I loved that little truck. That was my last good one. I had just replaced the original clutch and throw out bearing in it a few weeks before I rolled it.

Mine has 172000 on it now and even with the body collasped in the right front, it's still going. I'll get a new one new year when finances are better.

truck

yes the egr cooler is a know problem and there is a tsb on it,technical service bullitin, fight with the dealer and they WILL fix it, I had mine replaced, I have had 2 6.0hhhhs and thats the only thing i had go wrong with the 03, Not true on the head gaskets, most of the time it was not the head gaskets leaking , it appeared to be but it was the egr cooler leaking down the passenger side head running off the rear of the block, many head gaskets were replaced when they didnt need to be, as was many rear main seals, So I would fight with where ever you bought it, if it was local then see the owner , yes he will get it straight, had to dd that before when the so called sm was an azz and didnt know how to do his job, also its covered on the 100,000 mile motor warranty good luck
