youngins today just dont understand getting your speed from power instead of RPM... big difference. back then you would build an engine to push the trans and differential, today you build a modest engine and rely on the trans and differential to make its work easy.

You can run it on an engine with that much compression, just have to build it right and run good gas mostly. I dont think my trans or diff lead a very easy life at all...lol. The Mustang is an 11:1, naturally aspirated small block, stick shift car on a drag radial. ![]()

I had a roller cam for mine that had just arrived (already Paid for) that would have let me run it up to almost 8 grand instead of the valves floating at 5 grand, the day that came in, I cut a telephone pole in half with the side of the car.. needless to say,,,,, anyway, the engine and trans ended up in a friends 64 nova. being a lighter car he was turning high 10s, low 11s with it at Capital raceway.

Since we have 2 other cars, we avg. less than 10k miles per year now on the Corolla, I don't know if I'll hold on to it for another 10+ years to make it past 300k.

| My good friend that has a 94 Civic Coupe with a JDM B16A swap with the JDM ODB1 computer and basic bolt on’s (intake, header, hi-flow cat and exhaust). He's also running low 14s in the 1/4 mile with street tires and full interior and he is getting an average 34-40 mpg for his daily compute to DC. Oh, he also passed the emission testing for MD last month. I have a 97 Civic EX 2 Door coupe, I am getting 32-36 mpg. Mine is stock with 150k miles… I bought the Civic about a month ago because I own a 04 4Runner with a V8 which averaged 16-18 mpg on the commute and about 12-14 mpg when I tow a 3k trailer.
