Custom Speaker/Stereo Installations

Does anyone know of a very reputable shop in the Calvert County area that does custom speaker installations? I have a car for which I cannot buy stock speakers (requires custom mounts) and the speakers are completely blown. Just purchased the vehicle and this is one of those little secrets you find out about afterwards.

No harm, no foul - I would probably have upgraded the system at some point anyway. If the price is right, I will get a stereo install as well but the speakers take precedent.

What kind of car, most standard speaker sizes should fit unless its an older car or one from another country. If not they sell adapters.

As for a good shop, not sure about calvert, and most big box places like CC or BB can do the job, but ive seen some of there installs, and some of them are not pretty. While others look good.

1995 BMW 325i convertible. I took the speakers out of the back seat area and they are in a non-modifiable bracket (2-speakers).

I already went the route of Best Buy and just took the speakers back tonight because they didn't work. Crutchfield tells me that I will need custom installation because, unless I go through BMW, no after-market speakers will work.

My truck comes with 5.75 speakers in the doors, but i used a dremel to make a set of 6.5 with really big baskets work. It should be pretty easy, and a shop would charge outrageous prices.

Thanks for the links! They were extremely helpful! It confirmed what I suspected - the speakers can't be removed from the "pod" as they call it without actually breaking the mounts. Seems like an idiotic way of doing something but I guess we can get around it.

I might go the retail route again once I take another close look at the situation.

Thats how they where in my truck they had screws, some plastic tabs and glue. Pulled the screws broke the tabs and ripped them out, then went to work with the dremel.
