| Serpentine belt maybe? If so, shouldn't be too much... Toyota Corolla Serpentine Belt - Corolla Serpentine Belt - Toyota Serpentine Belt

| Board Mommy | Why not just ask the neighbor which belt he said it was?

| It is likely NOT your timing belt. It is under a shroud and not visable without taking it apart. It is likely a serpentine belt which would be much, much less. |

| Thats what Im thinking! besides if the timing belt has to be changed by taking apart the engine..u would think it would not be so easy to dry rot.

| Could also be your alternator going bad. They tend to whine when going bad. |

| If he said it would be "no biggie" you can probably bet that it was not the timing belt. It more than likely is the ancillary drive belt used to operate the power steering, alternator, A/C. The engine should be a 1.8L SFI DOHC 4 Cyl and whether it has A/C or not is the only factor in determining what belt you need. |

| Return of flatbelly | 1) Like Pete said, you cannot see the timing belt just by looking under the hood. 2) Like Vrai said, head to Hayden's, autozone, advanced and have them take a peek and help you out. 3) Timing belt change intervals for your car is @ 110,000 miles.
