I guess it's about a comfortable a ride as you can get in a pick 'em up truck. Everyone I've ever had in it or who has borrowed it and is a pick up person comments on it. Having said that, unless you need full size, which I kinda do, I'd go Tacoma and never look back. THAT is an awesome truck. For the Tundra, the 4.7 is plenty of ass and a great, proven engine. I wish I would have gotten the BIG motor. ![]() What I DON'T like about it is that it is VERY....responsive... (touchy) when you first touch the gas or brakes. I don't know if the 5.7 is like this or not. I also don't like their limited slip set up. You need to push some buttons if you want some wheels spinning, as God intended, in slop or even dry grass on an uphill incline. It has the buttons. I just don't like the stock set up. If I had it to do over again, I'd have found an older Tundra for my BIG TRUCK needs and kept the Tundra. If you need full size, it's a good choice.

| Oh, and I test drove big three; Chevy, Ford and Dodge. I am sorry but, they all felt cheap compared to fit and finish of the Yoda. I wish it was not so but, the plastics, knobs, ride, engine, transmission, all the little things those little sneaky bastards just do better than us that feel like 'quality'. One last dislike; 2010 they stopped, I was told, with their six disc changer which I didn't notice until later assuming no one would ever change something so perfect. They are better, were anyway, on drivers using our portable music devices and Sat radio. I don't like the radio/cd in the Tundra. What I have is a single disc and far too much button pushing needed to find your stations.

| Toyota makes fantastic vehicles. I have a '94 pickup with 274,000 miles & I plan to hit 500,000 before I even THINK about selling it. I've had Nissan (meh), Ford (ok), Dodge (eh) and Chevrolet (gag) trucks & Yota beats then hands down. The only US made truck I'd buy would be the Ford. The Yota dealer in Prince Frederick is MUCH cheaper on parts in general. I've been to both & the folks in PF are much more personable without that sleazy need-to-sell-sell-sell feel VRB was talking about. |

| Not to resurrect a semi-dead thread but I saw this when I was cruising through the forums and figured I'd post up. I've got a 2012 Tundra (CrewMax Platinum 5.7 4x4). This is actually my 2nd 2nd Gen Tundra - I also had a 2008 (SR5 Double Cab TRD 5.7 4x2). I actually picked up my new one for the move out east as I was previously dealing with two vehicles (got talked into buying a used truck by my ex and then she decided to take off) and wanted to get down to a single vehicle again so I traded both in for the new Tundra. I love it, having lots of fun in it and am just waiting for the go ahead to load up my gear and come across to Pax. I put the Rock Warrior wheels/tires on it over this past weekend (stock was 20" wheels/tires that weighed 85 lbs a piece) and I'll be doing some light suspension upgrades...Basically want the luxury of the Platinum with a little better than the offroad capability of a stock Rock Warrior / TRD Off Road truck. The truck is pretty sensitive with the throttle but apparently the Toyota dealers have an alternative pedal assembly they can install if you complain about it (you can also order it online for $40 and install it yourself). They come with 2 years of maintenance now (fast becoming a standard in the industry). There is some expectation of a redesign being shown at the Chicago or New York auto shows in a few weeks, so that should bring the price down on the existing stock rather significantly. |
