Wish I saw this earlier, not going to do you much good now. But yes there was plenty of autocross there this weekend. National Capital Chapter BMW Car Club of America ran (in the rain for the most part) on Saturday, and Autocrossers Inc. ran on Sunday in a persistent mist/drizzle. I ran both, winning my class on Saturday driving a friend's car, and winding up 7th out of 20 in my class on Sunday driving my own.

Did you make it out to either? I know the weather was discouraging but it adds a nice wrinkle to the competition.

NCCBMWCCA is at NCC Autocross
Autocrossers Inc is redoing its website but some info can be found on the Washington DC Region SCCA site, Solo (Autocross)

Claff, whats the deal on spectators? And what times will things be going on. Doing a beltway fam run with my daughter, and might swing in on the way back and show her folks driving cars at the limits.

They have got to pick better dates for their autocross events. They're almost always scheduling themselves up against a big race going on at MIR or Budds Creek MX. I'll try to swing by and take pictures though. IHRA isn't worth the price of admission anymore... it's barely even worth it to go if admission is free.

Spectators are welcome and it doesn't cost anything to watch. You will have to sign an insurance waiver and wear a wristband but that's it. Autocross folks are nice people, you're welcome to talk to drivers and some might even let you ride along for a run or two (loaner helmets are available).

We have a heck of a time making our schedule as we have to take into account the larger SCCA club that runs at FedEx Field, as well as the SCCA national event schedule as most of us run local SCCA and many of us also run some larger events a little further from home. On the other hand, I don't think we get a lot of people who have to force themselves to choose between autocross and drag racing, or autocross and circle track. We did have a drag racing Mustang come out for our first event this year (it was entertaining but ran better than I expected) but typically the folks who prefer to do one don't tend to also do the other.

If you do come by, swing by and say hi. Me and the missus drive a green Miata with white stripes and a lot of stickers, car #93 and 193.

I may swing down on Sunday as well. I also plan on bringing my camera. What time does it start?
