| If I'm understanding your question correctly: The justifications have changed in the post-Civil Rights era. These celebrations now serve as a means to combat the frequently one-dimensional portrayals of minorities by the media.

| blacks aren't really a minority anymore. have you been to dc? lp? what about the other, more minor minorities. where is their month. |
