Should Mortgage Company bear blame for death?

Mother, 53, Kills Self Before Foreclosure

TAUNTON, Mass. (July 23) - A 53-year-old wife and mother fatally shot herself soon after faxing a letter to her mortgage company saying that by the time they foreclosed on her house that day, she would be dead.

Police in Taunton said Carlene Balderrama used her husband's high-powered rifle to kill herself Tuesday afternoon, after faxing the letter at 2:30 p.m.

The mortgage company called police, who found Balderrama's body at 3:30 p.m. in her brown-shingled raised ranch house. The auction was scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and interested buyers arrived at the property in Taunton, about 35 miles south of Boston, while Balderrama's body was still inside, according to police chief Raymond O'Berg.

HELL NO!!

She's the loon that screwed up her finances.. SHE'S the loon that pulled the trigger.. she dug the hole, now she gets buried in it.

I think they should be able to attach a lien to her life insurance until they are paid their arrears and penalties!

I voted no.

Any life insurance will go to the husband unless the insurance is nonpayable in the case of suicide.

Yes they should. If they never tried to kick her out of her house she would still be alive.

im sure after a few months of not paying the mortgage and the forclosure notice that followed....that should have been notice enough. as if they didn't know it was coming already?

besides, people that have good mental health do not just off themselves. She had others problems too.

O'Berg also said a suicide note found next to Balderrama told her husband, John, and 24-year-old son to "take the (life) insurance money and pay for the house."

That is completely ridiculous and those who voted "yes" or "not sure" are insane.

People get into financial trouble all the time and they don't kill themselves.

Do life insurance policies pay out in the case of a suicide?
