The Calvert County Division of Emergency Management will conduct a full cycle test of the alert and warning sirens throughout southern Calvert and St. Mary’s Counties at noon on Monday, November 5, 2007. The siren test will consist of a full 3-minute activation. The sirens were installed to promptly alert the public to tune into local radio stations for information and instructions on any emergency situation. The sirens may be sounded for testing or weather warnings and are not used as a signal to evacuate.

All citizens are asked to remember the scheduled testing and relay the information to friends, family and neighbors. Anyone who hears a full 3-minute siren at any time other than the scheduled full cycle test should tune in to a local Emergency Alert System radio station for emergency instructions. Those stations are: 1560 AM, 102.9 FM, 97.7 FM, 1690 AM, 98.3 FM, 104.1 FM, and 100.9 FM.

Call the Calvert County Division of Emergency Management at 410-535-1600, extension 2638 with any questions or for additional emergency preparedness information.
