On Saturday, April 12, more than 60 government, civic, and private organizations will converge on the parking lots of the Charles County Government Building in celebration of the first “County Government Day.”

Sponsored by Charles County Government, Charles County Public Schools, Civista Hospitals, and The Office of the Sheriff, the event is sanctioned by the National Association of Counties (NaCO), which challenges County governments throughout the nation to be innovative in presenting information and services to its citizens.

With a theme of “Protecting Our Children, Our Health, Our Environment,” County Government Day will feature booths, instructional exhibits, and displays that range from government services to crime prevention, social services, and environmental issues.

There will be music and entertainment, an American Red Cross blood drive, health and sanitary demonstrations by Civista Hospital, an exhibit of birds from the Raptor Conservation Program, a fire and emergency vehicle display, the popular Farmer's Market, an AARP booth, and much, much more.

County Government Day will be held from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (rain or shine) at the Charles County Government Building. There will be ample parking available and plenty of free fun and games for the entire family.

If you would like more information, or would like to be a part of County Government Day, please call 301-645-0550 and ask for Jason Lang, Crystal Hill, or George Clarkson.
