I hadn’t heard that term but I’m definitely familiar with the concept.



My opinion is that any such club should only include musicians whose deaths were self-inflicted in some way. Not just substance abuse and suicide, but also reckless behavior. Robert Johnson would qualify if the story was true about him flirting with a married woman. Whether Tupac Shakur would qualify if he met the age criterion (he was two years shy of 27) is difficult to say.


If we deleted the age criterion, this would rule out Patsy Cline, Ronnie Van Zandt, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Randy Rhoads, and Cliff Burton - there’s a high risk of transportation accidents in any profession that involves traveling. It would also rule out Dimebag Darrell and Ty Longley.



Now I’m feeling like the musical grim reaper…
