so I'm watching Nick...

... getting my morning cartoon fix. Ad comes on for a game at Nick online. The goal? You run around eliminating the "CO2 Monsters".

Now, I am all for cleaning up any mess we make, living a cleaner life, but this was directed at the kids as a Global Warming issue. I have a problem with "teaching" kids the "right" way for something that truly hasn't been proven one way or the other. I call it brainwashing....

Tammy Bruce addresses this in one of her books. Says that the extremists - enviro-nutties, gay activists, Leftists, etc - aren't having too much luck with the adults, so they're going after the kids to get them indoctrinated for the future.

This is why you saw all the youth support for Barack Obama: these kids have been fed the "progressive" agenda since they were old enough to turn on a TV, so that's what they believe is the truth. And it's just going to get worse with each generation until we are completely Socialist and our country is unrecognizable.

Unless parents turn off the electronic babysitter and raise their own children, which isn't going to happen, it's inevitable and we can't stop it.

CO2 is bad. Even without global warming, all you have to do is put a bag over your head and you are quick to realize that you probably do not want CO2.

Meh, have your kids go play Grand Theft Auto. At least then they won't be learning anything bad for the world.

That is an absolutely stupid remark. All green plants use CO2. You want CO2. If there was no CO2, all green plant life would die and then guess what? No O2.

And my comments had nothing to do with CO2 being good or not. It was the "education" of impressionable minds in the guise of a game.

13 years ago, I moved in with my brother and his wife for a brief spot in time.

BACK THEN, my SIL was such a fanatic about recycling that she had a complete pantry dedicated to the separation and organization of recyclables.

More often than not, I would just take my room trash with me and toss it in the dumpster at the gas station! :lmao:

And to make matters sillier, at holidays, we all knew how important all of her efforts and beliefs were to her so we supported her while she was there. I started the relief movement while I lived with them and became the first to adamantly throw plastic and glass in the trash can as a form of silly rebellion. Then, to continue the laughter, many followed suit - more as a stress relief from the Nazi-ism.

Years later, Bro and wife have Calen the wonder child! They are visiting me in Alexandria. I'm making a berry and cheese snack plate. I wash the berries and just tossed the plastic container, not thinking. Calen (little at the time) says, "Mom! Aunt VV just threw away a plastic container and didn't recycle it!!!"

And she's also pushed her way into her school systems where she taught, but is now a principal. She's a strong, beautiful, powerful woman. And in that position of power as a principal, she COULD have some influence.

 Is it really a bad thing? I don't really think so. It's all about the earth, but you know folks probably b!tch at home. They can't just have a sense of humor about it, like my family who claims her, and rebel on a holiday for mass mutiny!!! Her heart is always in the right place.

:eek:veryourhead:

Calm down, its a game that teaches the player to not want CO2 near them in condensed packets.

And who the heck are the TV stations to teach anyone's children about this? That's a job for parents. If they choose to be ego-evangilists, fine. If they choose a less noble direction, that's their choice as well. It's not up to a cartoon station to choose the direction for them.

Haha, where is that major over reaction smiley...:cds:
Ah, there it is.

It is also not the job of children's tv shows to teach children that there are mystical balls that contain monsters inside them. Or that children should go off on adventures without their parents. Or befriend strangers dressed in large robust coloured suits to sing with. Or can get on a magical shrinking bus and go inside the human body.

It is the -parent's- responsibility to monitor what their children watch and have access to. Don't blame the media for offering options to allow children to get educated on matters. Even if Global Warming is not valid, I am certain that the children will at least learn about CO2 before the school system teaches them.

It was funny to read that you turned on the boob tube to Nick to get your cartoon fix! I HAVE to or I go crazy.

With that said, you should know better than to refer to Nickelodeon as a "cartoon station". Even Nick sections at the water park make you think!

:yay:

It's either cartoons or news. One cancels the other out.

Don't know about you, but SpongeBob doesn't exactly elicit deep thoughts in me..... :lmao:

SpongeBob probably has an equal fan base of adults as it does of children, mostly because it has adult humor. I guess they've done the thinking for you. I do find the show triggering my think spot - concerning underwater animals  physics :killingme and the silly psychology used in some of their skits. It's wonderful. It kicks the news' azz. :yay:

But, as responsible adults...

Where is Bugs Bunny ?

to Violent ... they kicked him off years ago ......... even though that is what most over 35 grew up watching (I am 43) .... I can remember tuning in in the late 80's and while for a time Bugs was still on, the slapstick violence had been edited out ... made the cartoons
