13 years ago, I moved in with my brother and his wife for a brief spot in time.
BACK THEN, my SIL was such a fanatic about recycling that she had a complete pantry dedicated to the separation and organization of recyclables.
More often than not, I would just take my room trash with me and toss it in the dumpster at the gas station!
And to make matters sillier, at holidays, we all knew how important all of her efforts and beliefs were to her so we supported her while she was there. I started the relief movement while I lived with them and became the first to adamantly throw plastic and glass in the trash can as a form of silly rebellion. Then, to continue the laughter, many followed suit - more as a stress relief from the Nazi-ism.
Years later, Bro and wife have Calen the wonder child! They are visiting me in Alexandria. I'm making a berry and cheese snack plate. I wash the berries and just tossed the plastic container, not thinking. Calen (little at the time) says, "Mom! Aunt VV just threw away a plastic container and didn't recycle it!!!"
And she's also pushed her way into her school systems where she taught, but is now a principal. She's a strong, beautiful, powerful woman. And in that position of power as a principal, she COULD have some influence.
 Is it really a bad thing? I don't really think so. It's all about the earth, but you know folks probably b!tch at home. They can't just have a sense of humor about it, like my family who claims her, and rebel on a holiday for mass mutiny!!! Her heart is always in the right place.
