Print ShareThisINDIANAPOLIS — Police say an 18-year-old Indianapolis man severely beat his girlfriend's 14-month-old daughter because the girl failed to show respect.

Tayaun Chism was arrested on preliminary charges of neglect of a dependent and child abuse in the beating of Lilliana Goodman.

Police Sgt. Paul Thompson says Chism is accused of beating the girl with a belt for more than an hour for being disrespectful and not eating her food.

Chism was arrested Wednesday night in the waiting room of St. Vincent's Hospital, where the child was in critical condition Thursday.

Thompson said Chism's pregnant girlfriend, 21-year-old Rachel Goodman, was injured as she tried to intervene. She was treated and released from the hospital

Incredible. You're going to beat a 14 month old for showing disrespect and not eating food? 14 month olds don't have a fricken clue what "respect" is, and apparantly neither does this 18 year old. I hope bubba teaches him some prison "respect". God I hate reading the news. Sick, sick people.

Please explain why Goodman was also not arrested? He beat the child for an HOUR. :ringring: 911 please state your emergency :/ringring: Cops would have been there in well under an hour.

It sounds like she tried and he beat her up too. From the link I posted:

"Police believe the Goodman had been beaten Tuesday and Wednesday and the 14 month old was beaten, possibly as a disciplinary measure."

She was treated and released. Couldn't have been too bad. Could have crawled to the phone and called 911.

WHY do these stupid women allow these low-life thugs to be around their children?! :doh: I'm sorry, but I find it VERY hard to believe that an upstanding citizen would just snap and beat a baby for an hour. AND, you can't say "Maybe she didn't really know how he was" because then it is IRRESPONSIBLE to let a stranger have the opportunity to do this to your child!!!

You can bet the mother is also a lowlife sleezeball idiot. Look what she chose to have a second child with! That is assuming she even knows who the father actually is.

Once again...any "man", who beats a child, woman, or elderly person...............is a piece of shiat, who needs a noose around his neck.....and hung from a big oak.

Hopefully he will get his "beating" while in jail and hopefully if there is a god, she will lose custody of the poor baby at the hospital that depended on her to protect her and the unborn child she is carrying.

I second that motion. In fact, child molesters make me so sick, I'd volunteer to put the pistol to their heads and pull the trigger. Empty chamber on the first two pulls.

Yes because according to the left he can be reformed and then educated while in the clink! Why waste the cost of lead on him when he can be changed! One can only hope that he will be treated to regular deep body cavity checks!

Insanity/ Any person who beats a 14 month old kid for an hour is insane.

Does that mean he shouldn't be executed?? Not in my mind. Insanity as a defense for murder or for mutilation such as this is Bull####. If he is crazy, that's cool. put him down like a mad dog.
