RebelReports - JUST-IN: Jail Sentence Reduced for Iraqi Journalist Who Threw Shoes at Bush

"Muntadhar al-Zeidi, the Iraqi journalist who rose to international fame by hurling his shoes at President Bush on his final visit to Iraq has had his prison sentence reduced from 3 years to one year in prison. He originally faced 15 years in prison.

al-Zeidi’s lawyer Dhiya al-Saadi told AFP “the appeals court decided to reduce the jail sentence from three years to one for several reasons. They considered his motives, the fact that he is still a young man and the fact that he had no previous criminal record. His good behaviour in prison is another reason why his sentence has been reduced.”

al-Zeidi was convicted on March 12 of assaulting Bush during his farewell visit to Baghdad in December. He said his action was a “natural response to the occupation.”

al-Zeidi’s action last December inspired protests across the globe where shoes were hurled at government buildings. Millions of people have called for his release and view him as a hero. Meanwhile, as al-Zeidi remains in prison, Bush and the other US leaders who destroyed Iraq walk around as free men and women."

If he had balls at all he would have tossed them years ago at Saddam, but we would have never heard of him then would we.

Nonno's eternally angry. He cuts & pastes from sources that affirm his anger. He doesn't give a rat's butt about the shoe thrower (neither do I). The article had a dig at Bush, that's why it was posted.

Grasshopper's meds wear off by evening.
