Arrogant Americans or Why we have Memorial Day

I believe that there are several million 'younger' Americans of voting age that really need to see this. Most of them don't even know who their Mayor or Congressman is. By now, if the true Americans had not delivered, we would be speaking German, Russian or Japanese! Do you think they have a clue? I don't.

IF I ADDED CORRECTLY THE COUNT IS 104,366 (And this doesn't include Arlington).

Apologize to no one. Remind those of our sacrifice and don't confuse arrogance with leadership.
As Americans, let's all look forward to the next elections - to find a President who doesn't think we need to be ashamed, Arrogant, devicive or derisive.

Who are they? I could learn something today, sorry I'm not into politics. I got better things to do and worry about. I am old enough to vote but I don't because I could careless.

Ah I get it, you have to be in the military to be an American. And of course young people should be so inclined to research who their Senator/Governor is (well they should know the governor). Not everyone has to follow thier government completely to be a true american. Memorial Day is about creating an awareness day of all that has been lost, and won regarding the military. This is the most ridiculous thread.

Yeah....

He brought you the "Unitied Socialist States of Amerika".

Quadrupled the national debt overnight.

Bankrupted two of our major automakers.

Made us look like jackasses to the world.

Bowed to a third-world king.

Wants our wounded veterans to pay for their own medical care
after we sent them out to get wounded.

Yeah....

Let's do this some more!

1) black
2) democrat
3) not Bush
4) black

what else is required? obviously not common sense, integrity, citizenship or experience.

Memorial Day is to remember those Americans who died serving their country.

That is separate from the politics of why they went to war in the first place. We would do well to keep these things separate.

How well are they honored when we have a president that openly displays his contempt for the country that they died serving.
Where will their legacy be when the freedom they fought for turns into socialism, the very thing they died to prevent.

To honor them would be to embrace what they died for, and to strengthen our resolve to maintain those freedoms that they gave their life for.

It will be a slap in the face of all service men in this country to have obama show up in public anywhere that weekend.

Nope.

I'm not in the military. I doubt anyone here would question my American-ness.

Abso-####ing-lutley.

And not just young people - but geezers as well.

I like your style. Not just ignorant - but militantly ignorant. :yay:
Good on ya!

OK, bring politics into it.

If Wilson wasn't such a flaming, unconstitutional moron 116,000 US troops would NOT have died for the British and French.

Considering Wilson was an unconstitutional moron, if FDR wasn't such an unconstitutional moron, 300,000 more US troops would not have died for the British and French. As for the 100,000 who died fighting the Japanese, at least they actually attacked us.

As for not speaking Japanese or German or Russian, that was never going to happen unless people chose to because they never presented an existential threat to the US.

You can despise Obama all you like. However, he is still YOUR president and mine. Let's hope he brings our people home and we have that many less dead to memorialize for dying in some other foreign land.

What Memorial Day is about...not Obama

:offtopic:

Not sure why someone would make a comment about not being an American if you aren't/weren't military. Stir many pots?

Remember, Memorial Day isn't about BBQ's and beer... it's about reflecting on the PEOPLE and EVENTS that have shaped the HISTORY of this country.

It's not just military memorials, it's war memorials too... last I checked there are memorials to firemen, police, nurses, doctors, construction workers, etc etc

So for those of you who have zero respect for those who came before you and the events that shaped this nation.... go ahead and sleep in, have a few 10 ouncers with a few brauts.

I may not be at the Ride to the Wall but I will go out of my way to acknowledge this day and what it stands for somehow.

As for soley honoring those who served and have served.... there's Veteran's Day.

Of course! The Bush Administration was not a preface to anything! Its all Obama! It's all Obama's fault! Guess what? It's called a recession. This is not the first one. Something needed to be done to steer the country in a different direction and that's what is happening. Everything will not be fixed overnight. And how did this thread, supposedly about mem. day end up being a political fight like every other thread on this forum? The pesimists on here spit #### out, eat it, and regurgitate it time and time again. You talk about 'Americanness"? HAHAHA you are exactly the opposite. And who are you to define what an American is? Are we an arrogant country? YES! Is that a bad thing? Not really. If we were modest, we would not be where we are today. All I hear is #####ing. All I hear are a bunch of hicks who just enjoy being complacent about anything and everything. I am all for obama and what he is trying to do. Go ahead and pick on the word "trying", but that's what every president does. They are expected to change things in the country to make it for the better as they see fit. AMERICA voted him in (almost landslide I might add) and he is doing what he thinks will work. Bush had his agenda, and Obama has his- just like every president who has ever come into office. Some of you don't agree. You throw the word socialism every f*cking day. Just pathetic.

I hope Obama fails at what he is trying to do. I wish George Bush failed at what he did do to this country.

Based on the highlighted statement in the quoted incoherent screed, I must presume you're attempting some sort of communication with me. Or at me, rather.

Having taken the time to peruse your barely lucid rant, I have a few questions for you.

1) Please indicate where I blamed Obama for anything.
2) Please indicate where I excused Bush for anything.
3) Please explain what the opposite of an American is, and how I behaved so.
4) Please explain where I presumed to define what an American is.
5) Please explain how being militantly ignorant is something to aspire to.

If you can satisfactorily answer any of the above questions, I'll bow out of this discussion gracefully, and defend your next inarticulate diatribe as gospel.
