When you have to pass laws like this:
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The chickens have come home to roost for Los Angeles city dwellers who keep roosters.

The City Council on Tuesday passed an ordinance that—with few exceptions—allows only one rooster per property. It was spurred by complaints over noise and hygiene and concerns over illegal cockfighting.

Janice Hahn, who authored the bill, says it will give residents of her district some peace and quiet. LINK

What does the porn industry have to do with illegals?

at any rate, its good to see they are limiting the number of people per house

How is that because of illegal immigrants? I've heard of many areas that don't allow any roosters, but it's because of noise. :shrug: I just didn't see anything in the article that ties it into illegal immigrants. :shrug:

One word: Cockfighting

These are not folks keeping a few hens for eggs.

correct me if Im wrong, and I may be but,
it is my understanding that roosters do not lay table quality eggs.

so, I would assume that egg production is not what the roosters are being kept for.

“That’d be naïve,” Detective Brumagin said.

“These are cockfighting operations,” in which birds shred each other for sport and illegal gambling draws “tens of thousands of dollars,” she said, adding that in two and a half years, she has “investigated 200 cockfighting operations.” In addition to noise, filth and violence, she said, “often prostitution is going on, and narcotics are sold” at fights in neighborhoods where local gangs get a cut of the profits.

When I first read the article, it seemed as though the cockfighting part of it was just a concern. It didn't say they'd busted lots of folks having cockfights. :shrug:

I guess I've read too many forum posts (not here) complaining about how it's illegal for them to own roosters because of town/city ordinances. :shrug:

And I know that plenty of American citizens hold illegal cockfights. The illegal thing just didn't jump out at me from the article.
