Why Are Climategate Charlatans Still Free?

"If I had engaged in activities that involved fleecing the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom of billions in public funds in the name of “climate research”, and it was found that I had manipulated the data to advance the “global warming” hoax, wouldn’t I be facing charges of fraud?"

Americans wonder why we are in debt up to our eyeballs. We are being scammed left and right and no longer allowed to harvest our own natural resources but are enriching our enemies instead. All in the name of Green.
Green is the new Red -- or part of it.

But we have so many idiots in our government that believe global warming is real. They are too stupid to realize the climate actually does change over the centuries. And it does it all by itself.

WaterMelon = Green on the Outside BUT Red on the Inside.

The WaterMelons in Government and around the World could care less if its true or NOT, its their "Means to an End".

Just look at the Last Global Warming Fest, speech after speech was nothing but 3rd World Nations saying "Show Me the Money", Socialist saying "Capitalism is the whole cause" and Liberals saying "Its all our fault, we are going to give you our wealth to make up for it".

Every agreement so far, if you look at the end results that will come out of it, is likely manmade emmissions will very likely increase, but there will be a huge redistribution of wealth, capital, production amoungst the nations, all leaving the wealthy nations to the poor.

Of course, NOT all GW supporters are WaterMelons, but if you just apply a little critical thinking skills you'd find the claims are NOT supported in any way meaningful.

I don't know the details, but I assume they got millions in federal grant money and that is why the author is claiming the government was defrauded.

Whats clear is that an academic should be discredited when its found they are manipulating data to reach a result (and our not honest about doing so).

What I am not clear about is why what they did would have defrauded the government. If the government made grants for their research, that could be fraud, theough you would probably want to see how their proposal for the grant was worded and such. On the other hand, if their research were funded by private institutions and Congress relied on the result of their research to make decisions that cost the government millions they didn't use fraud on the government. Congress should have looked into the data they were relying on before passing the legislation.

So I think whether there was any fraud involved depends on the context.

[QUO..why the author is claiming the government was defrauded.[/QUOTE]

It's not just that one grant constitutes fraud. Or that the legitimate study of weather is fraudulent. The problem is, "scientists" manipulated data to form 2conclusions. 1. the earth is warming and 2. that people are causing it.

Now we know exactly the opposite is true. The earth is in a cooling phase and that warming and cooling have nothing to do with human activities. As someone said in an earlier post, Mars is having a warming trend -- and as far as we know, there aren't any humans there. (Maybe when Pelosi goes home on recess.)

The fraud that was initially perpetrated caused others to jump on board. Some were true believers who bought the hype. Others were opportunists who saw easy grant money, and some saw an opportunity for a power grab.

State, local and the federal government are making policy based on this fraud and the cost to the taxpayer must be astronomical. Not only in monetary terms but in the loss of liberties from added regulations as well as the opportunity costs from not harvesting our own energy, including all of the national security concerns and the loss of sovereignty by being beholden to debtors. I think this is what the marxist means when he says "redistribute the wealth". It's very effective.

"Every “green job” created with government money in Spain over the last eight years came at the cost of 2.2 regular jobs, and only one in 10 of the newly created green jobs became a permanent job..."
Michelle Malkin » Spain’s green jobs boondoggle

Some of us are old enough to remember when the liberals were telling us that there was going to be another ice age and that the end was near. Then of course the earth began a warming trend and the libs had to rewrite the story. History is repeating.

The first thing that needs to be done is to lock up Al Gore and whoever else is tied to the real money fraud of selling Carbon credits.

What a stupid scam to begin with. Selling an object that doesn't exist.Selling the right to pollute from one company to another.

How does selling the right to pollute save the environment? What a scam.It has already raised your electric rates in Maryland Stop it.

Climategate: Follow the Money
Bret Stephens: Climategate: Follow the Money - WSJ.com
"Thus, the European Commission's most recent appropriation for climate research comes to nearly $3 billion, and that's not counting funds from the EU's member governments. In the U.S., the House intends to spend $1.3 billion on NASA's climate efforts, $400 million on NOAA's, and another $300 million for the National Science Foundation. The states also have a piece of the action, with California—apparently not feeling bankrupt enough—devoting $600 million to their own climate initiative. In Australia, alarmists have their own Department of Climate Change at their funding disposal.

And all this is only a fraction of the $94 billion that HSBC Bank estimates has been spent globally this year on what it calls "green stimulus"—largely ethanol and other alternative energy schemes—of the kind from which Al Gore and his partners at Kleiner Perkins hope to profit handsomely.

Supply, as we know, creates its own demand. So for every additional billion in government-funded grants (or the tens of millions supplied by foundations like the Pew Charitable Trusts), universities, research institutes, advocacy groups and their various spin-offs and dependents have emerged from the woodwork to receive them."
