"The GOP is still celebrating the win Tuesday. They need to be reminded that it was the Tea Party that put them in. Tea Party voters did not put the GOP in power in Congress because we had nothing better to do. We now expect changes. What kind of changes do we want from the GOP?"

Open Letter To The GOP

Dear GOP.

I hope you have recovered from the party and the hangover that followed. Now the realization has hit. You are going to have to do something.

First, realize it was not you. It was the Tea Party movement and America’s disgust with socialism. You are on top today, but that can change.

First, the Tea Party movement is not here just to get you elected and then going back out to the field for two years until you need us again. We put you in power; it is time that you recognized this. John Boehner is the speaker apparent. Who decided this? He was the minority leader. He was also in the leadership when the GOP was spending money like drunken Democrats and then gave us Nancy Pelosi.

Why not a Tea Party candidate for Speaker? Michelle Bachman for example. I like this idea so much I think I’ll encourage our membership to call on their representatives and ask they cast a vote for Representative Bachman to be the Speaker of the House.

Second, Michael Steele has to go. We need a conservative leader of this party. That is not Steele. There are several reasons why the GOP did not take control of the Senate, but one of them is the shortage of fundraising by the RNC. Michael Steele is quite happy to fly around in a private jet, promoting himself, yet could not meet fundraising goals. He had an aide who thought it was perfectly acceptable to take donors to a Los Angeles bondage themed fetish club. I know Steele had nothing to do with that little disaster, but he had an aide who thought that would be perfectly acceptable to do something that stupid and have the GOP pay for it. Is it any wonder you are having a hard time attracting donations when things of this sort are going on?

At best, you have only given lip service to the Tea Party movement and it is this movement that has resurrected an almost dead Republican Party.

Third, the Republican apparatus must be reformed to help conservatives, not liberals. Want to make the Tea Party angry with you? Just remind us of Dede Scozzafava. While conservatives were out working for a real conservative, Doug Hoffman, the Republican National Congressional Committee was out donating to Scozzafava. She was more liberal than the Democrat who was running and she paid the GOP back by dropping out and endorsing the Democrat. No more Scozzafava’s.

In politics, memories are often short. The GOP has shown a particular talent for forgetting who brought them to the dance. This time, you are not going to forget. We won’t let you. This time, you are going to listen to the conservatives. This time, you are going to put conservatives in charge of the party. If you do not, the same people who put you in power, can put you out of power."
