Cruised around the channels looking for TLC, because I haven't been able to catch Sarah Palin's Alaska show, yet. Came across the show "19 and Counting" about the Duggar family.

OY VEY and holy moly that's way too many kids! :jameo:

They do seem very well behaved, well mannered and pretty darn orderly, I must say.

Methodically disorganized
There are several threads about them already floating around; I think a new one gets started every time the number goes up. And there is the infamous Demotivational Poster (below).

The family gets poked at for the obvious reason, but mom and dad have done a remarkable job raising each child and making them feel loved. They manage their 19+ better than a lot of parents who have 2 or 3.

I've never seen their show, but have read great things about their family. While it may be too many kids for you or me, it must not be too many for the Duggars.
For those who say her uterus is going to fall out (if that's what you mean by "too many") then we have to remember that that is what a uterus is for. No one says "his you-know-what" is going to fall off from using it too much. No one worries that her other parts will fall out from too much use, so why this?
Does Netflix carry their show. I'm going to go check it out.

He was 14, but they don't say how old the girls were. The report says he fondled their breasts, which means they had breasts to fondle. So I wouldn't call that a child molester.

All I get from the story is that he was a teen perv, which is not terribly out of the ordinary at that age.

It apparently crossed several years so it wasn't just a 14 year old playing doctor who suddenly stiopped. I think in the least they should have had professional counciling out of concern for potential future victims no less their own daughters.

The Duggar parents stated that they arranged for counseling for Josh and for the girls affected by his behavior.

I read the police report. Not just "breast" fondling, but below the belt as well. And there were several victims and his own sisters no less. Very disturbing. Especially since he admitted it to his parents and then later did it again, which says to me he has a compulsive habit and I worry about his own daughters. 14 is just too old for that, that's not a curious child at that point. His father also took him to confess his crime to a police officer, who was later charged and sentenced to prison for child pornography charges. Whole thing is crooked.

I will reserve judgment until I know exactly what he did and how old the females were. If he was fooling around with his older sisters and their friends, I can't get excited about that because it's fairly normal, and I can also see a fundie Christian parent getting seriously worked up over it to the point they'd get the police or a therapist involved. Some very strict parents think that any sexual contact outside of marriage is a terrible sin and I can see the Duggar dad being that way.

If he was messing with very young girls, now he's a weirdo.

That sounds like behavior of every single guy in high school. Big deal. :rolleyes:

The only thing going that gets the hair on my arms to stand up is that some of the girls were his sister. But I still side that it was LIKELY simple adolescent curiosity.

Up until now, I watched the show, and loved it. By the age of 10, I think a child knows what's right and what's wrong, and this is just wrong. I hope TLC cancels the show!

Having no brothers, or siblings in general, I was unsullied for a very long time. But friends of mine who had brothers roughly their own age assured me that fooling around wasn't outside the norm. Maybe it's a Nebraska thing.

Mmmm, I have a number of girlfriends with brothers within a year +- of them who would disagree. Not full blown sex, but petting and like that. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time.

Regardless, I think if the media is going to tell the story they should tell the whole story. If it were really ugly I'm sure they'd have said so because libtards hate the Duggars and their family values, not to mention their religious beliefs. So I have to believe it wasn't really all that. But I could be wrong.
