UK Plans Major Health Care Reform

Looks to me like they want to privatize their gov't run healthcare in order to control costs and reduce red-tape... their nurse's union is against it... imagine that... interesting indeed.

UK Government Plans Major Health Care Reform - ABC News

Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday waded into terrain where past British governments have foundered, promising fundamental changes to the country's expensive and over-stressed public health care system.

The British leader, whose Conservative Party heads the country's coalition government, said he would save money and cut red tape by giving control over management to family practitioners rather than bureaucrats, and allow private companies, charities and social enterprises to bid for contracts within the public health service.

Guess they found out government run healthcare doesn't work. Imagine that. And Obama can't wait to get his gov't run healthcare going.

And in another 40 years or so, we'll want to do the same.

Just moments ago, as I used this news article to rub in the face of some "make you wanna puke die hard liberal UK dwellers" I was informed that out of this, their taxes will not go up, their care will improve and it will not go private.

Of course, they dont have a clue how all of this will take place, they just trust their government that much. :killingme

Speaking of the UK individuals, did you know that the general thought over there is that there are hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S that are being turned away from hospitals only to die in the street due to the lack of health care here?

For the last generation, the dysfunctional European socialist model that we made fun of has been facing the music and working on fixing their problems, moving more to capitalism. Obviously, they are not out of the woods but, they're working on it.

And we're going the other way, more socialist.

I thought it was more like people being too damn stupid to go get medical help when needed.
I could be wrong.

First time I broke my back I didnt have insurance, and there was no way I could afford to pay for it.
The surgeon and the hospital did the surgery for free. Although, I did insist that they did bill me for it. and they did.
and I paid over time, but a year and a half after the surgery, I had paid it off.

My second kid was born without insurance. She cost $10k and it took 4 years. Proud day finally getting the title to that kid.

wow. I can relate to the broken back part..but mine was broken on the job and covered by Workmen's Comp. Cost about as much as two new cars, too..so even though they billed you they must have cut you a lot of slack on it, yes?

That's because we're stupid and don't learn from the mistakes people make right in front of our face.

Seriously, it's fascinating to watch. It's like we live in a vacuum or something.

Here is the deal, and I think one of the real problems with health care in this country.
Insurance companies can negotiate the price they pay doctors and hospitals, thats why when you see the statement it will say something like
Doctor visit 22,354.68
Insurance paid, 15.00
and you dont have to pay the rest.

if you go in without insurance you pay the 22,354.68 plus interest if you make payments. Indivduals do not have any negotiating power when it comes to what is charged.

No surprise then that Oblahma insulted our relationship with them; they are realizing the faults in his worldview. The French, however, have not.

Oh, but that's different. The Brits don't have the benefit of the Anointed Won's blessing on THEIR healthcare.
