"The US has unveiled a series of commercial deals with China, as the countries' presidents meet for talks in Washington.

The White House said on Wednesday that China had committed to buying $45bn worth of exports from the US, including a $19bn deal for 200 Boeing air planes.

The deals will support up to 235,000 jobs in 12 US states, according to the White House. In addition to the Boeing deal, China will also invest in US exports from agriculture, telecommunications and technology companies, including General Electric, Honeywell and Navistar.

Barack Obama, the US president, said the four-day visit by Hu Jintao, his Chinese counterpart, was laying the foundation for deeper prosperity between their two nations.

"With this visit we can lay the foundation for the next 30 years,'' Obama said at a grand arrival ceremony outside the White House on Wednesday."

why would we sell China any of our aircraft ? so they can copy the damn things ?

here is what to watch for.
Boeing is going to realize that if they move their production to China, they can produce these aircraft with lower cost Chinese labor.
They will move, all money will be transfered inside of china and the U.S will see not gain financially or with employment numbers, as a matter of fact, Boeing will most likely shut down U.S plants and put thousands more out of work.

Boeing just announced that it would be cutting 1500 jobs next year,,,

With the new deal with China, any guesses where those jobs are going?

see my last post.

didnt take long for that one to come true.

Along with diesel powered submarines, carrier busting missiles, an MBT that strangely looks like the Abrams, and now a Stealth fighter that looks like an exact copy of our advanced fighter, what else are we going to give them ?

GE, a main contributor to the Won, is already developing an aircraft jet engine with the Chinese. We don't seem to remember history do we ?

When the Mig 15 first appeared in Korean skies, it was a shock to our own Air Force because of its performance that left behind the WW2 piston fighters and early jets that we were using. Other than being piloted by Russian aces, it was found that the Mig
was powered by a Rolls Royce engine sold and licensed by our British ally.

Russian intercontinental bombers were drawings on their boards until 3 B29s landed in Siberia in the closing months of WW2, seeking asylum when they evidently went off course and asked aid from what they thought were allies. The crews were interned like POWs, and the 29s were disassembled down to the wiring systems, drawn up by graphic designers and artists down to the last bolt and on Victory Day in Moscow, a bevy of heavy aircraft closely resembling B29s, flew over the masses in REd Square. The Bears and Bisons that followed into the 70s are from this lineage. Needless to say, the 39s were never returned despite our governments efforts. Yes, the crews were eventually repatriated, but after months of interrogation for every iota of info about the 29s they Russkis could glean.

Christie's Tank, a twenties' American design, was deemed as too expensive and not practical by our own army's standards, was purchased by the Reds and was the basis of the BT series to the T34 models that shocked the Germans in WW2 and is the ancestor of the T44s, T54 72s and 80s that opposed us in the latter 20th century. Now seeing the performance of these as opposed to the Chieftains, Challangers and Abrams, the Chinese have naturally taken the lessons in stride, copied and maybe have even improved on the originals.

How many times have our own inventions come back to bedevil us because we would not take the time or effort or expense to develop on our own or by our own stupidity gave away ? The transistor is another fine example

How so (has it already come true)?

The recent layoff announcement from Boeing relates to the production of C-17s (not the 737s and 777s that the Chinese are ordering per the deal referred to in the OP). Boeing is scaling back the production of C-17s so that it can keep that line open longer, hoping that it can find more orders (and delay laying off even more employees associated with that program). C-17 orders have been decreasing (read: the U.S. ain't buying no more, and all that's left are a few orders from foreign buyers). Boeing has indicated that it will try to help some of the laid off employees find jobs in its other programs. At any rate, those C-17 jobs aren't being moved to China.
