As part of the County’s Comprehensive Plan, county government staff is working to prepare subwatershed plans in order to achieve Calvert County water quality objectives which include “fishable/swimmable” goals for all its waterways. The public is invited to attend a meeting on the Parkers Creek subwatershed on Wednesday, May 11 from 7-9 p.m. at the Courthouse Square Conference Room in Prince Frederick.

Interested parties will have an opportunity to discuss the effects of living near Parkers Creek, which is located in the central portion of Calvert County. The meeting will feature a review of the current health of Parkers Creek. Following EPA guidelines for preparation of watershed plans, staff has collected and analyzed water quality data. The next step is to meet with stakeholders and county citizens to evaluate the information and recommend goals.

Parkers Creek encompasses roughly 11.4 square miles (7,321 acres) of land. The creek is southeast of the Prince Frederick town center and extends from its tidal mouth on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay to the west side of Route 2/4.

Those interested in attending may call 410-535-2348 to RSVP for the meeting. A draft plan is available for review at Calendar.
