The first Friday of every month features our First Free Friday program. The museum is open free to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. with special entertainment and activities each month. The Drum Point Lighthouse will be open and 30-minute cruises are available on the “Wm. B. Tennison.” The 257th Army Band will perform on the outdoor stage at 6:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs.

This year features the incredible work of underwater shark photographer Nick Caloyianis who, along with his daring diving partner Clarita Berger, will share their experiences diving with sharks around the world. Experience the shark cage used for their underwater photography and get your picture taken as a shark hunter. See incredible video from Shark Week. The day will include fish face painting, marine games, shark crafts, displays by the Fossil Club and shark mural painting.

Northern route departs from the Drum Point Lighthouse at the Calvert Marine Museum at 7:45 a.m. and heads north pausing to see Cove Point, Thomas Point, Sandy Point, Bloody Point and Sharpe’s Island lighthouses. The boat will stop at Cantler’s Restaurant for lunch and return at about 4:30 p.m. to the museum. The fee is $130 for the day-long trip; lunch is on your own. Museum members pay $120. There is a $50 cancellation fee. Preregistration is required and space is limited.
