The Newtowne Players announce open auditions for the upcoming production of The Rainmaker by N. Richard Nash. Set during a drought in the Depression-era American West, this play tells the story of spinster Lizzie Curry and the day a charming surprise visitor, Starbuck, promises to bring rain in exchange for $100. His arrival sets off a series of events that help Lizzie see herself in a new light.
There are parts for six men and one woman. People interested in helping with the technical and support crew are also welcome. The show runs Sept. 23 through Oct. 9, 2011.
Auditions will be held July 17 from 1-3 p.m. and July 18 from 6-8 p.m. at Three Notch Theatre on 21744 South Coral Drive in Lexington Park.
Callbacks will be held July 19 at 6 p.m.
Auditions will be readings from the script; no prepared material is necessary.
