It's more than a something burning smell here at the base, it's a smoke haze here at the base....

Just walked outside here by Spring Ridge, and it's really thick. Wood smoke smell.

Probably. My husband called the police station and asked. He was told it was from a big fire in VA.

Sounds right. Would have to be a big fire -- couple thousand acres, like they say this one is -- to make this much smoke covering this large of an area. Heard a coworker saying there was smoke all the way from Waldorf when he was driving in to work this morning.
