Hello, this is my first posting, and I hope I posted in the right forum. I’ve been told by two different A/C servicemen that my heat pump needs a new compressor. Their estimates for a new heat pump have ranged from $1800 to over $2500. Right now I can’t afford that, but can pay for a new compressor if the cost is reasonable. Or should I just give up looking for a compressor, and settle for a kerosene heater and a two or three electric space heaters? I'm not home during the day for almost 12 hours, so I would only need to keep the heat on low during those hours. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
