Charles County Public high school chamber choirs will join the Purdue Varsity Glee Club (PVGC) and Chesapeake Choral Arts Society for performances at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 13 at New Life Church in La Plata.
The men of PVGC, including Maurice J. McDonough High School alum William "Billy" Thiedeman, will present a 90-minute concert including gospel, vocal jazz, swing, contemporary hits, romantic ballads, classical choral selections, barbershop, folk melodies, patriotic standards, familiar opera choruses, country and novelty tunes. Prior to the concert, the PVGC will hold a workshop with members of county chamber choirs including Maurice J. McDonough, La Plata, Henry E. Lackey, Thomas Stone and North Point high schools. The PVGC will also share audition tips, performance advice and information about college, particularly opportunities to continue participation in musical performance beyond high school.
