Charlie Rose interviewed Tony Kushner on his making of the Spielberg film 'Lincoln'. These are the progressives making our movies. They aren't out there only to entertain us anymore; they are going to educate us; educate us on how great government is:
Charlie Rose - Tony Kushner
'Psychotic individualism'. You mean the kind of ‘psychotic individualism’ that gave birth to the light bulb, the telephone, the television, mass-produced affordable cars, google, amazon, cell phones... Does this progressive pinhead even realize what kind of ‘psychotic individualism’ he exercised in making this movie, and how the TRICKLE-DOWN profits from it will make him a very wealthy man? What did government do to make this happen? NOT A DAMN THING. But they aim to brainwash the low-information voter into believing they can't survive without government; all-the-while government is destroying everything they desire as an individual.
Charlie Rose - Tony Kushner
Rose: The definition of the role of government is an ongoing theme of American politics…
Kushner: So you have these people, like the Tea Party people, protesting government and then asked if they really want to give up their Social Security payments, and they don’t seem to know that that’s actually a part of what government is. There’s a rejection of this sort of basic idea of human community behind the Reagan-era ideology that is really frightening, and it leads us to terrible, terrible places. And now that we’re facing challenges like climate change, that absolutely demand a global collective response, an organized global collective response; we have no hope for survival as a species if we continue down the path of this kind of this psychotic individualism. The individual is very important, but just as important to human beings is our relational capacity. And I think that it’s slowly turning around; I think that we’re beginning to see, in the last election we saw the real rejection of what Romney basically had to offer this same old trickle-down nonsense, and people said ‘I don’t believe it anymore’.
