Resurfacing Work on Thomas Johnson Bridge Approach Begins Tues Evening
Beginning this evening the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin resurfacing the MD 4 (Patuxent Beach Road) southern approach to the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge. SHA expects to complete all work within a week, weather permitting.
Work will include milling, resurfacing and restriping. Crews will work overnights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. A single lane closure and flagging operation will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zone.
This project is funded under a $6.1 million multi-project "areawide" resurfacing contract awarded to Bardon/Aggregate Industries of Greenbelt. The contract also includes resurfacing more than two miles of MD 246 (Great Mills Road) from MD 5 to St. Mary's Square. This work began in March and is scheduled to be completed by the end of April.
