"CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa | A man accused of shooting himself while trying to kill a caged raccoon in Correctionville, Iowa, remained hospitalized Monday. The incident is under investigation.
Tim McCormick, 45, of Correctionville, shot himself in the leg while trying to shoot a raccoon in Copeland Park Sunday, police said.
Copeland Park is located just west of Correctionville along the Little Sioux River.
Conservation officers are investigating whether McCormick violated any wildlife laws.
McCormick was flown by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center - Sioux City.
He was hospitalized there Monday, but requested details of his condition remain private, a spokeswoman said.
No one else was injured.
