    GPS for a boat

Just acquired an older boat - 21 foot Chris-Craft. Looking to get something in the way of a GPS/depth/fishfinder system. Anything out there like that which someone can recommend and any idea of prices?

    Thanks in advance!

Garmin is the best but you pay for the best. You can get them from Lowrance and Humminbird too. I have the Humminbird 788ciHD. http://store.humminbird.com/products...788ci_HD_Combo
It's ok but I'd rather have a Garmin. Bought this one b/c boat already had a Humminbird and I didn't have to change the mounts or cables.

You can spend anywhere from $300.00 to $XXXX.XX. I'd recommend not spending a lot since you sound new to the game. The drawback to the cheaper models is the small screen and lack of features.

I also recommend getting color (costs more) vs. monochrome. Make sure you are looking at "combo's". And DEFINITELY shop around. You'll be surprised at the price differences on the same model. Do not buy from the manufacturer. Check EBAY too.

Here is Garmins basic combo model: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/prod119856.html

Humminbird's: 386ci DI Combo :: Humminbird Down Imaging Sonar/GPS Combo

    Any questions, just ask me.

I'd just get a nice color depth finder and use the gps out of my car

I am sure the one in your car shows channel markers and hazards to navigation.

Since it has boat, car, and walking modes it probably does

I'd use a sextant and a compass. As for fishing, just go where others are and pull in close or follow the birds.
