Not yet, but people should be paying attention.

I get notifications via e-mail from the USGS about earthquakes worldwide on a daily basis. I set the filter to only send notifications of magnitude 3 or stronger. Since September 17th, there have been 131 such quakes. The frequency of all quakes is increasing, and has been since I started receiving the notifications years ago. And quakes are happening in areas which were previously quiet.

Very cool that we could be distant witnesses to the birth of an island (for reasons other than volcanic activity) in our lifetime. A very rare event.
