A team of Navy SEALs raided an al-Shabab militant group in Somalia in a daring predawn attack, The New York Times and NBC News reported Saturday.

The raid was in response to an al-Shabab attack on a Nairobi shopping mall two weeks ago. Al-Shabab, a militant Islamist group, has claimed responsibility for the action, which killed at least 67 people.

Sources told NBC News and The Guardian newspaper in the U.K. that the raid was in pursuit of a "high-value target," but neither news outlet named the targeted person nor said whether the subject had been caught.

Don't you just know the Nobel Prize committee is stewing in its own juices these days?

Freaking idiocy

The secret operation occurred in Tripoli, where an elite team of Special Operators swooped in and captured alive Abu Anas Al Liby -- the Al Qaeda leader wanted for the bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998.

Al Liby is currently in US custody and sources told Fox News that he will be read his rights by an elite FBI unit that was sent out for that purpose. US officials say that the Justice Department plans to prosecute him in a US court,

He's not a damn criminal, he's a member of a group that has conducted warfare against the US. Wring him dry, and put a bullet in his head.

How could it be missed? Every time President Obama needs a PR boost, he wheels out HIS SEALs.

It's not like the SEAL's have been sitting around the campfire since the bin Laden raid. Most of what they do isn't in the evening news. And shouldn't be. Ever. But, this administration, especially this one, just loves to use them as poster boys for how tough their boss is.

Absolutely right. Why are we even hearing about this? Spec Ops has lived and thrived for 50 years in the dark and quiet - the way they like it, and the way they used to want it. Now, with the messiah struggling - again - he has to give away even more info and intel to his news outlets to attempt to prop him up and divert attention from his real problems - especially his failure to fund the government.

I wonder what the effect where it counts would be, if people quietly disappeared and strongholds quietly went away without being reported in the media. Seemingly at random, with no idiots announcing anything before or after the activities. Nobody knowing anything about strategy or where the strike would come next. A tactic the terrorists have used to great advantage. Give the right people the degree of invisibility and secrecy they need to actually get the job done.

Ah, yes, but, what IS the job? As per what George Bush thought it was? Or, what he allowed it to become? As per Obama? Bush 41?

The simple fact of the matter is that Pat Buchanan is right; the United States military has been sent to do the bidding of the Saudi royals for over two decades now. We have used OUR people, our resources, to serve THEIR interests. Clean up their messes.

The lie we were told was that this was all about the free flow of oil at market prices, a critical national interest. We couldn't allow prices to explode.

Well, look at us. All we did was make $30 oil $100 oil with some $170 oil thrown in for good measure. While losing 1,000's of good men and crippling 10's of thousands more of our best.

Iran and Russian and Venezuela, let alone Saudi, don't even have the manners to at least say 'Thanks, chumps!"
