YOUNG WOMAN COULD SPEND 10 YEARS IN PRISON AFTER ALLEGEDLY KILLING MOTORCYCLIST WHILE TEXT MESSAGING
Elizabeth Haley Meyers is facing charges that could land her behind bars for the next 10 years. Accused of killing Jonathan Wesley Roberts while texting and driving in Gambrills, Md., the 20-year-old is the first person in Anne Arundel County to be charged for manslaughter while text messaging.
Roberts, 30, was riding his motorcycle when the accident unfolded on March 10. Meyers reportedly drove her car into his path, causing him to crash into her vehicle. Prosecutors argue that the young woman was texting at the time.

Police said Elizabeth Haley Meyers, was attempting to cross northbound Route 3 when the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt she was driving traveled into the path of a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Roberts in the left lane. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the Chevrolet.
Roberts suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
