Pope Francis is the Catholic Church’s Obama

Pope Francis is undergoing a popularity surge comparable to the way Barack Obama was greeted by the world in 2008. And just as President Obama has been a disappointment for America, Pope Francis will prove a disaster for the Catholic Church.

My fellow Catholics should be suspicious when bastions of anti-Catholicism in the left-wing media are in love with him.

But Francis is beating a retreat for the Catholic Church, and making sure its controversial doctrines are whispered, not yelled – no wonder the New York Times is in love.

In his interviews with those in the left-wing media he seeks to impress, Francis has said that the Church needs to stop being ‘obsessed’ with abortion and gay marriage, and instead of seeking to convert people, “we need to get to know each other, listen to each other and improve our knowledge of the world around us.”

As a Catholic, I do hope Francis’ papacy is a successful one, but from his first months he seems hell-bent on a path to undo the great work of Benedict XVI and John Paul II, and to repeat critical mistakes of the past.

I actually believe he is a genius! The media do not know what to make of him. He is playing them like a fiddle.

I believe he is a genuinely pious and humble man who is not afraid to state that the Church should act with love and forgiveness, as Jesus himself did, rather than casting stones.

The media has successfully defined the Catholic Church as nothing more than a patriarchal, abusive, power-hungry, anti-freedom organization. If the Holy Father is undoing that, more power to him.
As an firmly convicted Catholic, I know he is unable to change the doctrines of the Church, so I have no fear of those things.
Pope Emeritus Benedict, Blessed Pope JPII both had their strengths and to greater or lesser degrees, they brought to the Church whatever was needed in their time.
Jesus Christ, through Pope Francis' example/teaching/etc., is what the world needs now.

Love him!

Hannity was saying this week:

the only reason the Pope was named 'Man of the Year' by Time, is they all THINK he had something bad to say about Capitalism

He says what I want to hear!

He hasn't changed the Church's teachings or nothing, but me makes me feel good!

He makes me feel that gay is OK. He makes me feel that atheists are going to heaven! He said that Capitalism is EVIL. He said Republicans will spend eternity eating the puss that comes out of the boils on Satan's ASS.

I LOVE HIM!

Is the CC obsessed with abortion and gay marriage? If so, is this a good or bad thing? If so, is the pope really channeling the message of Christ by telling you not to? If not, then what is the pope talking about?

All i did was post some paragraphs from an article and a link to the article, and according to the last paragraph in the article the author states he is Catholic.
His last sentence.

I was discussing a similar topic as this on another forum earlier. Christianity might have liberal and conservative theology, but it should never be nailed down to liberal or conservative politics. Jesus (and His disciples) are not conservatives or liberals (classical or modern). They take a very centrist view on some things, an unyielding view on things that fall on both the liberal and conservative sides of politics, and a non-interest on some as well. There are aspects of capitalism that are worthy of consideration, but there are aspects of socialism as well. But the church must never be pidgeon holed into one side of the political spectrum or one party representing such. The church is Christian, not Democrat or Republican, Labor or Conservative etc. Its beliefs and values transcend politics, not defined by politics.

That is why Roman Catholics are never a force in elections. We vary wayyyyy to much in our political views
