College Savings Plans of Maryland to provide information, offer enrollment help and answer questions about the Maryland Prepaid College Trust and the Maryland College Investment Plan

BALTIMORE, MD—The College Savings Plans of Maryland “College Savings Starts Here” road show will make stops around the State throughout the month of March to generate awareness for this last opportunity to enroll at current prices for the Maryland Prepaid College Trust. Throughout March representatives from the College Savings Plans of Maryland will be available at various locations around the State to answer questions, provide information and offer enrollment help for families interested in the Maryland Prepaid College Trust or in the Maryland College Investment Plan. The road show will stop in Southern Maryland on March 27.

Both of these Plans offered by the College Savings Plans of Maryland, an independent State Agency, are Section 529 plans which offer tax-deferred growth on earnings at both the Federal and State levels when used for qualified higher education expenses. The Maryland Prepaid College Trust allows families to lock in future college tuition at today’s prices and is backed by a Maryland Legislative Guarantee. The Maryland College Investment Plan, managed and distributed by T. Rowe Price, offers a variety of investment options, with no sales commissions or loads, and enrollment is open year-round. Both Plans are the only 529 plans that offer a Maryland State income deduction.

“It is more important than ever for families to save for the future costs of college. Every dollar saved is one less dollar that might be needed for loans in the future.” said Joan Marshall. “During our “College Savings Starts Here” tour, those living across the State will have a chance to talk directly with College Savings Plans of Maryland representatives who can provide all the details about the Plans. We hope that community members will take advantage of this opportunity to talk with us face-to-face about the Plans and get the help they need to make the choice to save for higher education.”
