I have two weeks of vacation coming up in mid October.

Anyone have any good vacation spots

My interest are Beaches, Mountains, Outdoors, Gold Mining and just relaxing in general.

Thanks

If you like the outdoors, you could easily spend 2 weeks here and not get bored... :yay:

I'd go south to get a bit of that Indian Summer feel,....to a place where the tourists have thinned out: Charleston SC, Savannah, & Myrtle Beach.
(Oh yeah, don't forget the metal detector)

Myrtle Beach is amazing in October. The rates go way down low, the crowds disperse, the throngs of kiddies are long gone, yet the weather is still terrific and the businesses are all still open including the go-karts, putt putt, and attractions.

I'm being dragged to Maine in October for a family reunion. I better not need a coat.

Check out Bay View Resort. That's where my friend and I stayed last year and I can't recommend it highly enough. Most of the hotels put out great deals for the off season.

We go in September, after Labor Day. Prices are really reasonable, not crowded with teenagers and college kids getting drunk and having parties all night. Water is still warm and the pools are practically empty. We stay at the Compass Cove, in the Mariner bldg. Highly recommend the two bedroom condo with the wrap around balcony.

I posted in another thread that we visited Pittsburgh this past weekend. A really fantastic place. I had no idea. Just the amount of bridges over the rivers is fantastic in itself! October should be when the fall leaves are at their peak. I am sure it is beautiful at that time of year. Just a thought. Here are some info threads.

Edit: IMO, it is always better to spend your money in our country, not out of it.
